2007- 2008 LONG TERM GOALS

 

♦    Develop and implement a long-term economic development strategy through community partnerships and communicate regularly to the membership on progress

♦    Develop a position regarding the priority and use of 4B sales tax money and communicate to the membership

♦    Develop a position regarding downtown redevelopment and communicate to the membership

♦    Develop a position and policy regarding future airport development/expansion and communicate to the membership

♦    Develop a team to follow and communicate government activities relating to business and taxes

♦    Coordinate the development of a recycling program for businesses

Board of Directors Goals

♦    Provide oversight of board operations, policy development, board training and planning

♦    Provide oversight of finances including conducting an Annual Financial Review

♦    Provide oversight and guidance in the building of new chamber offices

♦    Develop a leasing policy regarding tenants at the chamber property

♦    Select and present awards at Annual Banquet

♦    Maintain a sound financial position with the equivalent of up to six-months operating capital

♦    Review pricing structures and policies to maximize members’ return on investment

Organizational Goals

♦    Membership—Ambassadors continue representing Chamber at ribbon cuttings promote continued membership through Operation Thank You to be held in January, 2008

♦    Annual Banquet, Awards Dinner & Silent Auction—Plan and produce the 86th annual meeting of the Chamber with awards presentation as directed by the Board of Directors; tentatively plan for September 18, 2008

♦    Official Map of Kerrville & Our View magazinePlan and produce these annual publications; maximize distribution to benefit advertisers, as well as, maximize revenue potential for the chamber

♦    Website & Newsletter—Redesign and improve these electronic and print communications mediums; maximize membership’s use of website through “Members Only” section; increase the amount of information available to the membership on-line

2007-2008
Community Development Goals

♦    Task Force On EducationCoordinate, plan and produce annual Job Shadowing Program on the first Thursday in February; coordinate plan and produce New Teacher Welcome Bags to be distributed at the beginning of August with each designed to help members become involved with the schools; coordinate and produce a Career Fair for 8th and 9th graders.

♦    Leadership Kerr County-#23Continue training tomorrow’s leaders with this comprehensive program covering topics including social services, health care, tourism and the arts, government, education and others. 

♦    Task Force on GovernmentIdentify key election cycles at the state, county and local level and invite candidates to board meetings for information gathering purposes and then provide to members about specific issues that could impact their business or organization.  Poll members on a regular basis for input on candidates and issues.

Annual Events Goals

♦    After Hours Networking MixersOctober 18, 2007; November 15, 2007; January 17, 2008; February 21, 2008; April 17, 2008; May 15, 2008; July 17, 2008; August 21, 2008 to be held at various member locations to encourage networking among members; consider holding “themed” mixers

♦    Young ProfessionalsDevelop a concept to attract young professionals to the chamber by offering “age specific” after hours programs; January, May and August

♦    4th Annual Hill Country Golf ClassicNovember 9, 10 & 11, 2007 at Scott Schreiner Golf Course, Riverhill Country Club and The Club at Comanche Trace

      Goal: 100 two-man teams

♦    Holiday Membership BreakfastDecember 13, 2007

♦    Membership LuncheonsMarch 13, 2008 and June 19, 2008 to be held at various member locations with a speaker at each meeting; topics will vary

♦    13th Annual Sandbaggers OpenMarch 3, 2008 at Riverhill Country Club; 

      Goals: 128 players; 15 corporate sponsors; 15 team sponsors

♦    8th Annual Springtime SplendorMay 8, 2008 at Schreiner University 

      Goals: 350+ attendees; 15 exhibitors; 30 corporate and table sponsors
